how old is this bridge Ruth ? all the views are beautiful. Does Carroussel mean merry go round ? never knew it is a french word
Rauf, the bridge site I embedded says: "When the first bridge was being built at this location it was called the 'Pont des Saintes Pères,' but when it was opened in 1834 it had already been renamed the 'Pont du Caroussel.' Constructed flimsily of wood and cast iron, it soon proved unsuitable for heavy traffic.So the existing bridge was built (1935-1939) and moved some fifty meters downstream to provide direct access to what at that time were passageways leading to the Louvre."
